A Historic Step for Anorectal Health Awareness
On the occasion of World Piles Day, observed annually on 20th November, Healing Hands Foundation and Healing Hands Clinic organised a large-scale free anorectal screening and consultation initiative for underserved and rural communities across Pune district, Maharashtra.
This achievement was the culmination of nearly three months of awareness campaigns, outreach activities, and community mobilisation efforts conducted with the support of 12 collaborating organisations. More than 20,000 awareness materials were distributed across rural and semi-urban communities to increase awareness regarding piles, fissures, fistula, constipation, and other anorectal disorders while encouraging early diagnosis and treatment.
The official record attempt was conducted at Healing Hands Clinic, Pune Station, where a dedicated team of 60 professionals — including doctors, nurses, counsellors, pharmacists, volunteers, coordinators, housekeeping staff, and support personnel — worked continuously for 12 hours to provide free anorectal screenings and consultations.
Throughout the initiative, patient registration, medical history assessments, consultations, counselling, video proctoscopy, sterilisation protocols, medicine distribution, refreshments, and feedback management were systematically carried out while maintaining regular clinic operations simultaneously.
All procedures, documentation, videography, testimonials, and medical processes were undertaken only after obtaining appropriate patient consent and while ensuring confidentiality, dignity, and the highest ethical medical standards.
Who We Reached
A total of 357 individuals participated in the screening initiative. As per Guinness World Records Title eligibility guidelines, 5 participants below the age of 18 years were excluded from the final record count, resulting in an officially recognised total of 352 eligible participants.

What the Screenings Revealed
Years
More Than a Milestone —
A Movement
Anorectal disorders remain among the most neglected, misunderstood, and stigmatised health conditions in society. Many individuals delay seeking treatment due to embarrassment, misinformation, social taboos, fear of surgery, or lack of access to specialised care.
As a result, conditions that are often manageable in their early stages become chronic and significantly impact physical, emotional, and social well-being.
This Guinness World Records Titleachievement is therefore far more than a numerical milestone. It represents a collective effort to bring one of society’s most hushed health concerns into public conversation and encourage people to prioritise their health without fear, shame, or hesitation.
For years, under the visionary and philanthropic leadership of Dr Ashwin Porwal, Healing Hands Foundation has worked tirelessly to bridge the healthcare gap for underserved populations through free screening camps, awareness initiatives, counselling support, patient navigation, subsidised treatments, and health education programmes.
Thousands of individuals who otherwise may not have had access to specialised anorectal care have benefited from these sustained efforts.

In the Words of Those Who Were There
To describe 20th November itself, it is fitting to borrow the words of Dr Snehal Porwal, Founder-Secretary, Healing Hands Foundation, who witnessed the day unfold firsthand:
“20th November is marked as World Piles Day. This year, Healing Hands Foundation-India organised a free diagnostic and medical treatment camp for the less privileged and rural population of Pune. The team ran an extensive campaign for over two weeks, leading to the camp day. It was organised at Healing Hands Clinic premises, where the two teams worked in unison.
On 20th November, we saw a record-breaking 357 patients. This feat was achieved by a team of 60 doctors, nurses, volunteers, housekeepers, front-desk staff and pharmacists — working tirelessly, non-stop for 12 hours.
To operationally achieve this while the rest of the clinic functioned as usual was remarkable. As founders, neither I nor Dr Ashwin had to nudge anyone. Senior leaders took charge instinctively. The entire cycle — registration, history-taking, consultation, video proctoscopy with sterilisation, prescriptions, counselling, medicines, snacks, and feedback — was executed seamlessly for each patient.
What is achieved is as important as how it is achieved. The team helped 357 patients joyfully, precisely, and with kindness. Physically tired, yet mentally re-energised — this day marked the beginning of a long journey of service.”

“Awareness is the first step towards prevention and cure.”

A Milestone, Not a Culmination
The Guinness World Records Title stands as a powerful platform to amplify awareness about anorectal health and strengthen the collective voice advocating for dignity in healthcare. More importantly, it highlights the united efforts of Healing Hands Foundation and Healing Hands Clinic in reaching communities, educating individuals, dispelling myths, encouraging early diagnosis, and ensuring that conversations around piles, fissures, fistulas, constipation, and bowel health become normal, informed, and stigma-free.
This achievement reflects not only the dedication of an extraordinary team but also the trust placed in Healing Hands by hundreds of beneficiaries who chose to come forward, seek help, and begin their journey toward better health.
This Guinness World Records Title is not the culmination of a journey — it is another milestone in Healing Hands Foundation’s ongoing mission to ensure that anorectal health receives the attention, understanding, and public awareness it deserves.
