Corporate Camps
While working in rural and semi-urban areas, we realized that daily wage workers and industrial labourers do not have the luxury of prioritizing their health. The pressure to earn a living exceeds any attention they might want to give to their health. They avoid taking leaves for the fear of losing out on wages for the day. With limited number of permitted sick leaves, managing a chronic condition becomes exceedingly difficult. This has a negative impact on health in the long run. Poor health further impacts performance at work. When it comes to anorectal health, things are more likely to get worse with time. When treatment is not taken in the initial stages with medicines, the disease usually progresses to a point where surgical intervention is needed. Social awkwardness and easier access to temporary, cheap solutions, drives people away from appropriate medical intervention. They become victims of their own ignorance and land in complications (we do come across patients who come into emergency due to attempting crude treatment)
We understand the implications of anorectal diseases, and this prompted us to conduct Corporate Camps. During these ‘Awareness and Action’ drives, we not only educate the labourers workers, but also provide free consultation, examination, diagnosis, and medical treatment. Plant-based, well-researched, patented medicines are distributed during the drive. All these facilities are provided to them at their workplace. Those who need surgical treatment are provided so at NABH accredited Healing Hands Clinic, Pune at a bare minimum cost.
We would like to mention our special appreciation to the management of corporate firms for backing this program. They support us by providing space and setup for the drive and allow workers small breaks for checkup. As Labour Welfare policy does not cover anorectal health, such a collaboration has been vital for our initiative to materialize.
