Dr. Ashwin Porwal

Dr Ashwin Porwal is a renowned Proctologist who has carved a name for himself as the founder of India’s first chain of specialty Proctology centers, Healing Hands Clinic. He is distinguished for his groundbreaking work in the treatment of Anal Fistula. Dr Porwal devised DLPL (Distal Laser Proximal Ligation) for the treatment of this condition and people from all over the world come to Healing Hands Clinic for the treatment of Complex and Recurrent Fistula. Besides this, he has been instrumental in the development of Proctology as a super-specialty in India. He has trained more than 200 surgeons in this field and is the only MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences) recognized Professor for training post-graduate students in Proctology. He popularized Laser use in Proctology and has treated a record number of patients for anorectal conditions.

Extremely humble and calm, Dr Porwal instantaneously strikes a chord with his patients and their issues. Since the beginning of his practice he has made sure that no patient who steps into Healing Hands has to walk out for the lack of money. Even when Healing Hands had not flourished and achieved the growth of today, he would operate non-affording patients at miniscule charges. Finally, as the clinic prospered, he along with his wife conceived their long-standing dream of helping the less fortunate, which took the shape of Healing Hands Foundation.

While Dr Ashwin Porwal is the mind behind Healing Hands Foundation, at its heart is Dr Snehal Porwal. A dermatologist by degree, she switched her career to preside over Healing Hands Clinic. She looks after quality control and patient satisfaction. Daughter of an Orthopedic surgeon, throughout childhood she saw her parents serve the physically disabled, especially those left crippled by polio. Thus, seeds of social service were sown at a very young age! She believes that a little compassion, selflessness and honesty from the affluent can go a long way in diminishing the suffering in our society. As the economic gap widens, the onus lies on each one of us to serve those who are less fortunate. Fittingly supported by a team that unselfishly works towards achieving HHF’s mission and vision, she is determined to cast a stone across the waters of our society to create ripples of altruism.

Madhura Bhate

NGO Coordinator / Nutritionist

A nutritionist and clinical assistant at Healing Hands Clinic for 7 years, Madhura Bhate has been involved with the functioning of Healing Hands Foundation for the past 4 years. She shoulders responsibility for execution of projects undertaken by the foundation. Designing work plans, managing staff and guiding the field activities are some of the duties she executes with flair.

Tejashree Khalate

A young and dynamic student herself, Tejashree helps in educating people about anorectal issues. A lot of people, especially women, are hesitant to open up about these problems. By spreading awareness and making them comfortable, Tejashree’s calm and compassionate demeanor ensures that they speak up and seek help. Besides this, she also handles all the social media activities of HHF.

Anita comes with a precious 20 years of experience in the field of social service. She undertakes responsibility for the most important part, the actual groundwork. Her competence lies in making all arrangements for the health camps, traveling distances to communicate with respective health authorities, seeking permissions and ensuring smooth execution of activities. She maintains records of all activities undertaken by HHF.

Anand Misal

Helper

He assists with setting up the camp infrastructure, distributing pamphlets and organizing the flow of patients. He supports in maintenance of records and helps with unloading of material and equipment. Small but significant, his role is vital for the smooth functioning of health awareness camps.

Kiran

Ambulance Driver

We would not have been able to travel distances for our Gram Janjagruti Abhiyan without the safe driving skills of Kiran. He dutifully joins us on the morning of each camp and not only takes us to our destination but also chips in with assisting the team in conducting the camp.
